AUDITING CU COURSES
South Carolina residents age 60 or over may audit classes at Clemson University during the Spring and Fall semesters without tuition, upon approval of the instructor. An individual auditing classes through this benefit cannot be a full-time University employee, and while tuition is waived, associated lab and other fees may apply.
To choose a class to audit:
Browse the University's Academic Course Catalog through the search feature of this web site. The catalog is organized by Colleges, Departments, Degrees offered, etc. You can browse the required courses of study for specific subjects, and gain a sense of which classes might interest you.
Browse the more in-depth class descriptions for a specific semester through the search feature of this web site. This resource provides such details as the course name, number, location, syllabus (if available), days and times offered and the instructor.
Once you have identified a class you would like to audit, contact the instructor. Please note that you must have the instructor's approval to audit the class! While some classes welcome auditors, the structure and seating capacity of other classes may mean an instructor must deny your request.
To register to audit a specific class:
Pick up a "Request to Audit" card from the Cheezem Education Center or from the Registrar's Office in 102 Sikes Hall on campus. Limited metered visitor parking is available next to Sikes Hall, or park your car at the Cheezem Education Center and ride the free CATbus.
Complete the card and take it to the instructor of the class. The instructor will sign the card, giving their approval.
Return the card to the Registrar's Office in 102 Sikes Hall by the last day to add a class as published on the Academic Calendar.
The Registrar's Office will register you for the class as Audit.
